I AM writing before the historical 2018 general elections in Zimbabwe. I am therefore unaware of the results as yet.
For now I will stick to the story of US Secretary of State, Ms Hillary Clinton. Everybody who is in the book of life, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Central Intelligence Organisation and media trusts like the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times were of one accord that Ms. Hillary deserved the position.
President Dwight Eisenhower, 1953-1960 gave these organizations the nick-name of the military-industrial complex. Today it is generally referred to as the “Deep State.”
The New York Times, the conscience of the nation, is the lead voice of the deep state.
On September 16, 2016, the NYT editorial board unanimously condemned candidate Trump. The title of their editorial was; “Why Donald Trump should not be president.”Elections were on November 9, a few weeks away. Trump, the NYT said, had “demonstrated bursts of false and outrageous allegations (against Mexicans), personal insults, xenophobic nationalism, (and) unapologetic sexism.”The NYT felt that no reasonable person would vote for Trump, and if they did, they would find themselves encumbered by a man worse than a narcissist.
All the organizations that constitute the deep state were of one accord in condemnation of Donald Trump. The FBI lost its general ambivalence. Its lead prosecutor, Peter Strzok declared in private emails to his girl-friend that he would stop Trump. When this failed, he devised an insurance policy aimed at impeaching and removing Trump from office it.
As we speak, it is now eighteen months into the Trump presidency, vari kuvukura iye Trump achitonga, but they have not given up on overthrowing him.
While the NYT was correct, that Trump was a narcissist, there is no evidence that Trump is more so than his predecessors. Former British Prime Minister David Cameron, revealed in a private conversation that he has yet to see a man more consumed by self love than former US President Barak Obama. He said that Obama never missed an opportunity to lecture the G-8 or G-14 about some lofty moral principle.
Here are the leaders of these great countries, with centuries of civilization behind them, China, Germany, Great Britain and France, listening to this twerp teaching them about moral principles of democracy, my foot.
The never Trump fighters are becoming more shrill about their quest to defenestrate him from the White House.
Frank Bruni, a lead writer of the NYT, was on the warpath only yesterday. While he would rejoice in the defenestration of Trump from the White House, he feared that Vice President Mike Pence was a worse Trumpkin than the master himself.
Bruni calls Pence a holy terror.
“Mike Pence mirrors the boss more than you realize. He is self-infatuated. He is also a bigot. Also a lair. Also cruel.”
Notice that the anti-Trump fighters get so incensed about their subject, they forget their verbs. It gets worse, as I shall show below.
Bruni is not finished. Pence, he alleges, is a Christian bigot with a mission from God, whose lifetime crusade is to turn the US into a theocracy with himself as the Pontiff.
Democrats are determined to crush Trump through useless investigations. The chorus has now been taken up by the sister Los Angeles Times, another aspirant for the lofty seat among the apostles of conscience.
Ms. Virginia takes no prisoners, murders the English language with impunity, mixing verbs and nouns like a grade one child. In this war against Trump, everything is all things are permissible.
Here are some of her falsehoods. She begins by saying that the US 2016 presidential election was not legitimate.
Unfortunately, it was Ms. Hillary who sought to persuade Trump to commit to accept whatever result, “because elections are part of our sacred tradition,” she said.
The most “chilling (was) a massive assist from the Russian military, which hacked not only the Democrats, built also hacked the voting software and a voting system manufacturer.”She just made this up, falsehood number two.
But the fakeness of her case is self defeating. “A nation devoted to majority rule has a minority president. (sic) who squeaked into office on an Electoral College technicality. Against data projects. Using dark money. Using voter suppression. Using Russian disinformation.”
Please readers, I did not make up this story. If Ms. Virginia was my student, I would have asked for English tutorial support. There are no verbs in some of her phrases.
But there is a serious falsehood in her argument. The US style of government is not an Athenian democracy, which requires one man one vote. President George Bush, 2001-2009 had fewer votes than his opponent Al Gore. California’s population exceeds 35 million but sends only two senators to the Upper House. South Dakota’s population is less than one million but has two senators in the same house.
The thirty-seven year old scion of the Sulzberger family (original owners) of the New York Times is in a hurry to claim his family tradition as people of conscience. The fight with Trump is a god-send.
Arthur G. Sulzberger went to the White House on a private off the record mission to warn Trump not to escalate the press war by using words such as “fake news” and to impress on him to stop his “deeply troubling anti-press rhetoric.”
I wish the young man some luck.
