PROCHOICE Logistics and Agritec (ProChoice) has introduced new machinery aimed at increasing agriculture productivity and enhancing farmers’ earnings.
The local engineering company showcased some of its state-of-the-art machinery at this year’s Zimbabwe Agriculture Show in Harare. Prosper Muchenje, ProChoice’s managing director, said the company’s new generation cultivation rippers were equipped with technology that allows the soil to breathe, thus allowing improved plant production.
“Combined with robust engineering — the highest speculation on the market — the cultivation rippers are recognised for their exceptional strength and reliability. These affective and seriously tough rippers break the pan, shatter subsoil and lift and loosen the ground, leaving an aerated but firm finish,” he said.
The company also specialises in the supply of farming equipment such as shellers, planters, combined harvesters, tractors and other new generation agricultural equipment.
Muchenje said ProChoice’s maize sheller machine helps farmers to get the best from their products. “The major steps involved in the processing of maize are harvesting, drying, de-husking, shelling, storing and milling. All these processes are costly, and for rural farmers to maximise profits on their produce, appropriate technology that suits their needs must be used.
“Maize processing not only prolongs its useful life but also increases the net profit farmers make from mechanisation technologies,” he added. Established in 2013, ProChoice has also designed an ambulance with a water running system and enhanced power voltage outlets to accommodate a wide variety of medical equipment including ventilators.
“We took our time to carry what we call reverse engineering where we disassemble vehicles like an ambulance and came up with an improvised mechanism and contribute to our nation’s re-emergence to productivity and self-sufficiency, through cost effectiveness and quality.
“Our ambulance conversion department is our business flagship epitomising our craftsmanship in vehicle conversion.
“Combining tested designs with forward thinking solutions. We build basic intermediate and advanced care ambulance units on minibuses, off road vehicles and aircrafts,” said Muchenje.
Products designed by ProChoice include armoured vehicles, transit vehicles, police vans, escort vehicles, mobile clinics, mobile kitchens and bars, rescue vehicles and funeral hearses.
The 2020 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show which ran from October 28 to October 31 was strictly for business exhibitions, with some of its events held virtually in an effort by the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It ran under the theme: “Synergies for Growth-Cooperate. Collaborate. Complement” to rally support for the cause of agriculture and attendant value chains for increased “Production, Productivity and Profitability.”
