THE Tobacco Industry Board (TIMB) believes that the country will achieve its audacious target of producing 300 million kg of the golden leaf every year, as long as challenges affecting farmers are sorted.
This comes as players in the tobacco industry are targeting to produce 200 million kg of the golden leaf this season. It also comes as the TIMB is yet to unveil dates for this year’s tobacco selling season due to the raging Covid-19 pandemic which has seen authorities re-imposing a tough national lockdown to curb the killer disease.
