Zimbabwe to resuscitate paprika production

ZIMBABWE has plans to diversify and beneficiate its product range to get maximum value from its exports.
Last year the country’s exports grew to US$4,4 billion from US$4,28 billion recorded in 2019. However, worryingly for the country, primary commodities dominated the export list with minerals making up 73 percent of all exports, according to the Zimbabwe Statistics Agency.

But ZimTrade, the country’s trade promotion body, says there are untapped export opportunities in the processed foods sector. The sector recorded a 17,96 percent growth, from US$98 million in 2019 to US$115 million in 2020, according to Zimstat. In 2018, the exports were at US$71,2 m
