‘Dairy sector has potential for growth’

ZIMBABWE dairy producers say the sector has potential for growth, citing demand which is being pushed by a booming food and beverages industry, among other factors.
The sector is currently facing shortages, but the Zimbabwe Dairy Industry Trust (ZDIT) last week assured Zimbabweans that locally produced milk would be available in the shops as early as May.
“By May all the shelves will have the local product,” ZDIT chairperson Theodora Marimo told an industry indaba in Harare.
She said the dairy sector was set for growth, but emphasised the need to improve its competitiveness.

“The dairy sector is poised for growth on the back of population growth, increasing demand, increasing health consciousness by consumers, rising incomes and a thriving food and beverages industry.
