THE Tobacco Industry Marketing Board (TIMB) says all players in the tobacco marketing value chain should get vaccinated in the wake of the third wave of infections which has also affected staff at some tobacco companies and threatens to disrupt marketing of the crop.
The new wave has seen some of the highest number of infections in the country being recorded in the tobacco growing hubs of Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central which last week reported the two highest figures of 2 114 and 2 957 respectively.
“Staff at some tobacco companies tested positive to Covid-19 and these cases were handled in line with the Ministry of Health guidelines.
“The new wave of Covid-19 has meant that the regulations put in place at the onset of the marketing season had to be strengthened,” TIMB spokesperson, Chelesani Moyo, told The Financial G
