THERE could be a silver lining to the devastating riots which recently pummelled South Africa (SA) if this spurs the local manufacturing sector and chips away at Zimbabwe’s high dependence on the neighbouring country, experts say.
This comes as SA, the regional economic powerhouse and Zimbabwe’s biggest trading partner, continues to reel from the horrific human and infrastructure cost of the violent protests — the worst spate of chaos experienced by Pretoria since apartheid ended in 1994.
