Zimbabwe records wheat self-sufficiency for first time in 16 years

ZIMBABWE will this year achieve wheat self-sufficiency for the first time in 16 years, despite an increase in production costs during the winter farming season.

Information minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, told the media after this week’s cabinet meeting that following a successful wheat season, the country was anticipating a volume of more than 300 000 metric tonnes of the cereal.
This is against a national annual requirement of 360 000 metric
