THE government has introduced a new crop insurance product to cover farmers under the agriculture climate proofing scheme, Pfumvudza/Intwasa, with a US$1 million pilot project being implemented in selected areas for this season.
The new product, dubbed the Area Yield Index Crop Insurance (AYICI), was pioneered in the southern African region and is meant to protect farmers from the impact of climate change.
