NUFERT says it can produce up to 20 000 tonnes of its eco-friendly fertiliser, EcoBlack Urea, as the country battles to ease the current production deficit of about 210 000 tonnes of top dressing fertiliser.

Zimbabwe currently uses mainly ammonium nitrate for top dressing but supplies have had to be augmented by imports to meet demand.
The country only has a capacity to produce 90 000 tonnes of the 300 000 tonnes that is required annually.
According to NuFert managing director, Anton Brown, EcoBlack Urea minimises the loss of nitrogen through volatilisation and does not suffer as many losses as ammonium nitrate.
