Government scales up tourism recovery plan

THE government has upped the tempo towards the implementation of the National Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy, which is expected to revive the tourism sector after a two-year decline due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The strategy seeks to grow the tourism economy to US$5 billion by 2025, amid optimism of better prospects this year, on the back of a receding Covid-19 threat, which has seen more countries lifting travel restrictions.

In a post-Cabinet briefing, Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa said notable progress had so far been recorded in the tourism sector since the launch of the strategy by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in August 2020.
