Economic prospects offer firms little cheer

BUSINESS expects little improvement in the operating environment in the short to medium term, amid continuing policy inconsistencies, rising inflation and high Zimbabwe dollar volatility.
Experts who spoke to The Financial Gazette this week said the economy was showing increasing signs of stress — with the local cost of doing business set to rise further in response to soaring labour costs, high fuel prices and disrupted global supply chains as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war, among other challenges.
