Government seeks to accelerate tourism reforms

TOURISM minister Mangaliso Ndlovu says Zimbabwe needs to accelerate ease-of-doing business reforms in the sector to capitalise on the post Covid-19 recovery and growth that the industry is currently experiencing.
This comes as the government revealed that the tourism sector was on a rebound, with tourist arrivals increasing by 93 percent in Q1:22 as the country relaxed Covid-19 regulations following the sector crash, whose growth fell by 90 percent in 2020.

“We propel our industry … we accelerate this recovery and growth by making sure that we collectively address some of the bottlenecks that I believe we can. About a month or two ago I assigned my chief director, who has now been reassigned, to work closely with TBCZ (Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe) and other industry players, to look at some of the concerns that have been coming from industry mainly emanating from the ease of doing business, the licensing system and related issues,” Ndlovu told the media this week after announcing new Zimbabwe Tourism Authority board m
