ZSE ups REITs drive

THE Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) says it is in close engagements with a number of prospective issuers of real estate investment trusts (REITs), and anticipates listings to begin soon.
A REIT is a company that owns, operates or finances income-producing real estate.
The ZSE has been pursuing REITs for a while amid expectations that they will be the major driver of the market’s growth going forward.
This comes after the stock market last week listed its fifth Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) — the Cass Saddle Agriculture ETF.

“It is commendable that despite the challenging macroeconomic environment, we are witnessing one of the best years for the ZSE in terms of new listings. This (Cass Saddle Agriculture ETF) is the fourth ETF listing this year and the fifth listing including the Tanganda relisting that took place in February this year,” ZSE board chairperson Caroline Sandura said at the launch of the late
