Government set to finalise land compensation deal

FINANCE minister Mthuli Ncube says the government is close to finalising a deal to raise funds for the compensation of white commercial farmers displaced during the fast-track land reform programme.
This comes after Ncube held a meeting, just over a week ago, with some of the farmers in Harare to discuss the potential deal to raise funds to settle the US$3,5 billion global compensation agreement. Ncube said the mooted fund-raising “instrument” would be listed on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange.
“We had about 800 or so farmers attending. We had a very robust discussion over a three-hour period focusing on the compensation issue.
