ZIMBABWE and Zambia’s proposed Common Agro Industrial Park (CAIP), presents a great opportunity for the two countries to improve their trade within the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), a government official has said.
This comes as representatives of the two countries’ private and public sectors gathered in Harare this week for validation meetings on the draft policy.
“The proposed CAIP presents glorious opportunities for Zimbabwe and Zambia (under the AfCFTA). The benefits of cooperation include the achievement of economies of scale, rural industrialisation resulting in employment creation and better livelihoods for our people, among others.
“In this regard, a harmonised policy, legal, regulatory and institutional framework is a positive step towards achieving our set goals,” Industry ministry chief director Florence Makombe said during the official opening of the meetings.
