Zimbabwe targets 250 million kg tobacco

ZIMBABWE is targeting to produce 250 million kg of tobacco next season, up from 207 million kg realised this year.

The country has a long-term target of achieving annual production of the golden leaf of 300 million kg by 2025.
“Indications are that 96 percent of the crop will be grown under contract,” Agriculture permanent secretary John Basera told a farmers’ indaba this week.
