Government targets rural industrialisation

AGRICULTURE minister Anxious Masuka says the government seeks to develop innovative marketing and financing approaches for smallholder farmers under a new thrust to industrialise rural communities.
Speaking at the launch of the 2022 Agriculture Sector Survey in Harare on Wednesday, Masuka said the government was focusing on agriculture development as a catalyst for rural industrialisation.

“Rural industrialisation will cause rural development and that rural development will catalyse the attainment of Vision 2030.
“We are also doing mechanisation at scale. In fact, the support given by the government to mechanisation is unprecedented ― 3 000 tractors coming in over 48 months as we are launching mechanisation for the smallholder sector to power the progress we have made with Pfumvudza,” Masuka said.
“We are also looking at innovative financing and marketing approaches.
