Zimbabwe among Africa’s 5G network pacesetters

ZIMBABWE is among 13 African countries that launched the 5G network at the end of 2022, latest data shows.
According to a report by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), South Africa, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mauritius, are the other countries that launched the 5G network last year.

“Much of the low adoption of 5G in Africa can be attributed to continued demand for 3G and 4G services, more feature phones than smartphones that use 4G or later iterations and a higher price point for 5G plans and low disposable income,” EIU said.
