THE Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) says vehicle insurance compliance remains low in the country.
ICZ head of operations Nicholas Sayi told a recent indaba that both private and public transport vehicles were not complying with insurance requirements.
“Regrettably, compliance is very low. Our last computation was that for public service vehicles, I think we were sitting at 65 percent compliance and for (private) motor vehicles, I think it was 55 percent suggesting that the level of the number of vehicles that do not have insurance is very high,” Sayi said.
“Public service vehicles should have passenger liability insurance and that particular insurance is offered by special risk insurance consortium (SRC). SRC was put together by the insurance companies in this country.”
