ZIMBABWE’s inflation will gradually decline to single-digit levels by 2025, research firm Fitch Solutions (Fitch) has said.
The southern African country’s annual inflation is currently at 229,8 percent, having ended the year 2022 at 243,8 percent.
“We expect inflation to return to single-digit levels (on an average annual basis) from 2025 and remain broadly contained over the period to 2031,” Fitch said in its Zimbabwe Country Risk Report.
“This is based on the expectation that improvements in agriculture and mining output, as well as domestic energy production will lead to a rise in foreign exchange reserves, improving the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s ability to support the currency.” According to the rating agency, there are already signs that price pressures are beginning t
