ART pays $1,62 billion in taxes

AMALGAMATED Regional Trading (ART) says its taxes for the year ended September 30, 2022 increased by 260,61 percent to $1,62 billion from $449,78 million in the comparative period.
Payments included corporate tax, value-added tax (VAT), import duty, pay as you earn (PAYE), withholding tax of 10 percent, withholding tax of directors, aids levy, fines and intermediated money transfer tax (IMTT).
According to the company, VAT claimed most of the money at $742,51 million, followed by import duty at $322,02 million while PAYE claimed $292,92 million.

Corporate taxes took $117,18 million.
The famous IMTT or 2 percent tax swallowed $87,67 million.
Fines took the least, at $90,564. However, this was a huge decline from the $405,169 recorded in 2021.
The group also has operations in Zambia. Its payments to the Zambian government rose 8,54 percent to ZMW23,64 million (US$1,21 million) during the period under review. It was ZMW21,77 million (US$1,08 million) in the previous period.
