Local tourism sector appeals for funding

THE Safari Operators Association of Zimbabwe (Soaz) says the country’s tourism industry requires funding to reach its full potential.
The sector, which currently contributes between 12 and 13 percent of the country’s GDP, aims to increase its contribution to 20 percent in the next seven years.
“Funding is one critical issue where, as a sector, we encourage the minister of Finance to continue looking at us,” Soaz president and African Sun chairperson, Emmanuel Fundira, told a business conference last week.
