OM targets US$15mln mining industrial park

OLD Mutual says it is looking to invest a further US$12 million in an industrial park located in the Mhondoro-Ngezi mining area of Mashonaland West.
Chief executive of the diversified group, Sam Matsekete, said the industrial park, dubbed Mining Support Solutions and with an initial outlay of US$3 million, was a response to a need identified by platinum giant Zimplats to process inputs into the mining supply chain.
“We responded to a call emanating from a need identified by Zimplats. Zimplats found that in the supply chain, there was an opportunity to develop an industrial park … so that we could build infrastructure that would house facilities to process inputs into the mining activities that they do,” Matsekete said.
