Business bullish as elections creep up

BUSINESS is now reasonably confident that the upcoming harmonised elections will not destabilise the country and its economy.
A number of upbeat economic experts who spoke to The Financial Gazette this week also said that they did not anticipate any more significant policy pronouncements by authorities between now and the elections.
The chief executive of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Chris Mugaga, was among the business leaders who said the fast-approaching national elections would likely not be as contentious as previous polls.
In this regard, he added, there was a general understanding within the business community that “the worst, in terms of disruptive political and electoral cycles, was behind us”.
