THE Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB) says Zimbabwe should do more to keep its professional public accountants for the sake of the country’s economic objectives.
This comes as the country has been running a public sector professionalisation programme in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe and the International Federation of Accountants, which commenced in 2019.
“We acknowledge the decision taken by the government to support the professionalisation of accountants in the public sector… now that we have professionalised them, we need to retain them so that the effort that has been put in does not go to waste,” PAAB secretary, Admire Ndurunduru, told ICAZ’s winter school in Botswana recently.
