VETERAN banker Mandas Marikanda has urged women to complement each other in business.
Speaking during an executive dialogue that was hosted by The Financial Gazette this Wednesday, the chief executive of the Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank said women should not compete among themselves but rather collaborate.
“I think there is room enough for collaboration. Competition is one of the things that brings women down a lot, we need to collaborate.
“We have used it at the women’s bank, and we realised we are a young bank and other banks have been there before.
“You do not have to destroy other banks for you to have your space; complement that, and that’s when the value chain comes in.
“We are good at taking those that other banks cannot bank with, cleaning them up and at a certain point others will come and say we think we can bank with them,” Marikanda said.
