Caledonia announces more mineralisation at Blanket

CALEDONIA Mining Corporation (Caledonia) says the new positive drill findings suggest that there is more mineralisation and point to a longer life span for its flagship bullion asset, Blanket Mine.

There has been an ongoing underground drilling programme at the Blanket gold mine, which is currently targeting depth extensions to the Eroica orebody.
Due to subsurface logistical challenges and the effect of Covid-19 on contractor operations, deep level drilling at the Blanket mine was put on hold some years ago.
After the Central Shaft and associated infrastructure were finished, deep-level drilling was started in January and is now concentrated on the Eroica orebody, where a crosscut was dug to improve access to drill the deeper zones of the steeply dipping orebody.
“The recent encouraging drill results at Banket indicate that there is additional mineralisation that may, in due course, be accessed using the current infrastructure and which should further extend the life of Blanket,” Mark Learmonth, Caledonia’s chief executive, said in an update.
