‘Risk management to boost public sector efficiency’

FINANCE minister Mthuli Ncube says the risk management framework and guidelines for the public sector, which his office launched this week, will help improve transparency and accountability by efficiently managing government resources.
The minister officiated at the launch ceremony this Wednesday.
“This management will go a long way in efficiently managing the resources that the government has raised from the public through taxpayers’ money.
“We need this framework to manage these resources efficiently and deploy them efficiently.
“One of the risks that we will manage is that of initiating risky projects that can never be completed because it’s a waste of public resources,” Ncube said.
He added that the guidelines were an act of good corporate governance in the public sector in line with the National Development Strategy (NDS1) aspirations.
