Puma anticipates surge in demand

PUMA Energy Zimbabwe is set to expand its retail network and storage facilities under a US$30 million investment over the next three years.
This, the company said, is in anticipation of an imminent surge in domestic fuel and energy consumption.
Additionally, resources will be directed towards the development of renewable energy solutions, as well as investments in local talent and communities, Puma added in a note.
The company said it would increase its collaborative efforts with industry partners and regulatory authorities, to help maintain a consistent and reliable supply chain in Zimbabwe.
“We are extremely confident about the future of Puma Energy Zimbabwe. This is evident in our plans to invest US$30 million in the country over the next three years to increase our storage capacity, open new service stations and introduce alternative energies such as LP gas and solar solutions to the market,” Puma Energy Zimbabwe general manager, Donatien Kodog said.
“We are also committed to working with our industry partners and relevant regulatory authorities on the consistency of supply in Zimbabwe.”
Puma currently operates storage facilities at international airports in Victoria Falls and Bulawayo, and work is underway to upgrade infrastructure and expand storage capacity at its Harare facility.
As part of Puma Energy’s global sustainability strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the company is working towards a 15 percent reduction by the end of 2025 and 30 percent reduction by the end of 2032 and aims for operational net zero by 2050.
“Nineteen retail fuel stations are set to be solarised next year in Zimbabwe… drawing on expertise gained from installing clean energy at 300 Puma Energy service stations worldwide,” Puma said.
“Other initiatives include the introduction of a new digitalised fleet card for efficient fuel purchase management, the roll-out of LP gas kiosks and lube bays, and measures designed to meet the diverse needs of the market.
“Puma Energy Zimbabwe’s planned investment builds on its existing investments in aviation, retail and storage infrastructure and its 10-year legacy in Zimbabwe.”
“Puma Energy is a leading global energy business, safely providing energy in over 30 countries, across six continents. Our downstream business segments include fuels, aviation, lubricants and bitumen.
“Our purpose is energising communities to help drive growth and prosperity by sustainably serving our customers’ needs in high-potential countries around the world. In Zimbabwe, Puma Energy has a retail network of 50 service stations countrywide, serves four airports and operates one terminal and four storage depots.” newsdesk@fingaz.co.zw
