Located 90 kilometres northeast of Harare in Zimbabwe, the gold miner houses three mills.

Head of the KMH gold cluster and Freda Rebecca managing director Patrick Maseva-Shayawabaya told The Financial Gazette, that a South African based company assisted the miner in repairing it on site.

KMH gold cluster, comprising Freda Rebecca Gold Mine, Shamva Gold Mine, and Jena Mine in the Midlands, produces an average of 300 kilograms of gold per month.

“The mill was down due to a motor failure. The motor was repaired on site and the mill was recommissioned on Tuesday this week. It has been running well since. Repair costs are plus or minus US$100 000,” Maseva-Shayawabaya said.

“In terms of its impact on us, Mill Number 2 accounts for 20 percent of the ore that we process in our plant. So it being down means that we are down to 80 percent of our capacity.”

KMH gold cluster, comprising Freda Rebecca Gold Mine, Shamva Gold Mine, and Jena Mine in the Midlands, produces an average of 300 kilograms of gold per month.

The breakdown of this output shows that Freda Rebecca contributes the lion’s share at 70 percent, followed by Shamva at 20 percent and Jena at 10 percent.

KMH gold cluster is targeting to produce around 106 000 ounces of gold in this current fiscal year.

Meanwhile, KMH has strengthened its transparency and accountability commitment by implementing a comprehensive system to trace its gold operations, meeting international standards for responsible mining practices.

This comes as Kuvimba Mining House has teamed up with Comstack, a leading UK firm, in the implementation of this exercise.

The system is being rolled out across the group’s gold cluster to ensure transparency and accountability across all operations.
