Dawn deal floats AfSun in choppy H1

AFRICAN Sun (AfSun) says it made a profit of $6,45 billion from its acquisition of a 91,17 percent stake in Dawn Properties (Dawn) earlier this year.

In its results for the six months to June 30, 2021 released last week, the hotel and leisure group said its operating income for the period was $6,4 billion compared to a loss of $250 million in the prior comparable period, mainly due to a “bargain purchase” of $6,45 billion from the Dawn stake acquisition in January.
