THE government says close to one third of the total wheat crop has been harvested so far.
Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa told a post-cabinet press briefing this week that current wheat stocks stand at 159 706 metric tonnes, and are expected to provide over six months’ cover at a consumption rate of 21 000 metric tonnes per month.
“The cumulative harvested area of the 2022 winter wheat crop stands at 23 474 hectares, translating to 31 percent of the planted area,” Mutsvangwa said.
