FARMERS say they hope not to experience the same payment challenges that they have been facing in past seasons, particularly with delays, as they deliver this year’s summer crop.
This comes as the government is expecting over 3,2 million tonnes of cereals against a requirement of 2,2 million tonnes.
It also follows a record
375 000 tonnes of wheat production in the just-ended winter season in which farmers again endured payment delays.
“We have never been as prepared as we are (for harvest) this current season with improved mechanisation and also with transport arrangements that have already been put in place. The key issue that we still need to overcome is farmer payments.
