ZIMBABWE and its regional peers should mount a campaign to counter increased international restrictions on trophy hunting and trade, a new report says.

According to a biodiversity economy report, which was commissioned by the government, recreational or sport hunting is a major component of wildlife tourism in Zimbabwe, which generated US$19 million from fees in 2019. This was mainly from trophy hunting by international clients, involving just over 1 000 trophy animals.
A wide range of wildlife species, including over 30 mammal species, Nile crocodiles, and a variety of game bird species, are available for sport hunting in Zimbabwe.
